Fearfully and Quantumly Made
Have you ever been told or heard that science and the Bible are incompatible? Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, our president and co-founder, Carl Kerby, often says, "Give science time, and it will eventually catch up with what God has been saying in His Word all along." In today's blog, Gabby Terry tackles one such example and breaks it down so well that even "non-sciency" people can get the gist and understand truths from God's Word in a deeper sense.

Fearfully and Quantumly Made: A Christian Understanding of Quantum Biology and God’s Design
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1
This verse is more than just the opening of the Bible―it is the foundation of everything that exists. As Christians, we believe the universe did not begin by accident, but with God’s voice, His power, and His purpose.
Surprisingly, some of the most advanced areas of science today—such as quantum mechanics and quantum biology—are beginning to support what the Bible has said all along: the world was created with intention and wisdom.
Let’s explore what this means for us and how some people have misunderstood or misused these discoveries.
What Is Quantum Mechanics and Why Does It Matter?
Quantum mechanics is the study of the tiniest parts of our universe—things like electrons and photons (light particles). These small particles don’t behave like anything we see in everyday life. They can be in two places at once, connect across great distances instantly, and even seem to "choose" how they act based on observation.
Here are a few key quantum ideas:
- Quantum Superposition: A particle can be in two states at the same time until it’s observed.
- Quantum Entanglement: Two particles can be linked, even if they’re far apart—when one changes, the other does too.
- Quantum Tunneling: A particle can pass through a barrier it shouldn’t be able to, as if it "teleported."
To scientists, these behaviors may seem strange, but for Christians, they serve as a reminder that the physical world is not all there is. Scripture tells us that God created everything unseen (Hebrews 11:3) and that He holds it all together (Colossians 1:17).
String Theory and the Sound of Creation
Another idea in physics is called string theory. It states that everything in the universe is composed of tiny, vibrating “strings” of energy, much like the strings on a musical instrument. These vibrations are what give matter its form.
Does this sound familiar?
Does this sound familiar?
“By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their host.” — Psalm 33:6
“And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” — Genesis 1:3
God didn’t build the universe like a machine. He spoke it into existence. His voice—sound and breath—began creation. Some scientists even describe the beginning of the universe not as a bang, but a cosmic breath. Christians know that this breath has a name. The Hebrew word for “spirit” is ruach, which also means breath. The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters at creation (Genesis 1:2), and that same breath continues to sustain the universe moment by moment.
“In Him we live and move and have our being.” — Acts 17:28
What Is Quantum Biology?
Quantum biology studies how the strange rules of quantum physics show up in living things—plants, animals, and even us.
Until recently, scientists thought quantum effects only happened in places like deep space or freezing cold labs. Life, they assumed, was too “messy” for such delicate processes. But that’s no longer true.
In 2024, a group of scientists found that simple bacteria use a process called quantum superradiance. This allows them to send and process energy and information billions of times faster than we thought possible—like having built-in “quantum Wi-Fi.”
That’s not random. That’s design.
And it’s not just bacteria. Our bodies use quantum effects too:
- Our eyes and nose rely on quantum precision to sense light and smell.
- Our cells use quantum tunneling to make energy (ATP).
- Our internal clocks (circadian rhythms) depend on light-sensitive proteins that use quantum information.
This is high-level engineering. And, it was there from the beginning.
“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” — Psalm 139:14
Why This Challenges Evolution
The theory of evolution says life started in its simplest form and slowly became complex through random mutations over billions of years.
But if bacteria, the “simplest” life forms, already use advanced quantum mechanics to survive, that narrative doesn’t make sense. It means life was never simple. It was complex and well-designed from the start.
“O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.”— Psalm 104:24
This fits the Bible’s message much better than evolution’s claims. God didn’t make mistakes over millions of years; He made life on purpose, fully functional, and very good from the very first day.
There’s no need for “millions of years” if life was designed with wisdom and already functioning at the highest levels.
A Case for Young-Earth Creation
Some Christians believe the earth must be billions of years old because of science. But discoveries like these actually support the idea that life was complex from the beginning.
Young-earth creation, believing God created everything in six literal days about 6,000 years ago, is not only biblical, it’s becoming more scientifically reasonable.

When Truth Gets Twisted: Beware of False Worldviews
Sadly, not everyone gives glory to God for these discoveries.
- Biocentrism teaches that the universe exists because of life or consciousness, not God.
- Pantheism says everything is “god” and there’s no personal Creator.
- New Age and Eastern religions use quantum ideas to talk about raising your vibrations or becoming one with the universe. They even credit these discoveries for the ability to “manifest” their desires.
These ideas sound spiritual, but they are lies that lead people away from the truth.
Just like in the Garden of Eden, the enemy still whispers, “You will be like God” (Genesis 3:5). Many today claim we can “awaken” or “ascend” to godlike intelligence together, but the Bible says there is only one God, and we need a Savior, not a spiritual upgrade.

“They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator.” — Romans 1:25
Science Points to the Savior
Quantum science does not weaken our faith—it strengthens it.
From the tiniest particle to the complexity of life, everything points to a Creator who is intelligent, powerful, and deeply personal.
From the tiniest particle to the complexity of life, everything points to a Creator who is intelligent, powerful, and deeply personal.
God spoke, and the universe was made.
God breathed, and man became a living being.
God holds all things together, right down to the smallest atom.
Let’s not be afraid of scientific discovery. Instead, let’s use it to tell the world what we already know:
- Recognize that science is a tool, not a worldview. When properly interpreted, it reveals the fingerprints of God.
- Reject mysticism that elevates man or nature above God. The Creator is distinct from His creation (Romans 1:25).
- Celebrate complexity as evidence of design. The more we discover, the more we see the intentionality of the Designer.
- Point to Jesus as the Logos—the rational Word who created all things (John 1:1–3). Through Him, the invisible became visible.
God made this. God holds this. And God alone is worthy of our worship.
