Boys vs. Men, can you tell the difference? Let me share something that was shared with me explaining the difference.
Things are pretty different in our world than when I was a child. When I was young and my mother punished me I had to stay in my room. Today, it seems that punishment is for the youth to have to go outside away from all the electronic “toys”.
A long time ago my former Pastor posted this comparison of “Boys vs. Men” on his Facebook page. Many have asked me for a copy, so, here it is!!
Boys are disruptive: Men bring order
Boys play house: Men build homes
Boys shack up: Men get married
Boys make babies: Men raise children
A boy won’t raise his own children: A man will raise his and somebody else’s
Boys invent excuses for failure: Men produce strategies for success
Boys look for somebody to take care of them: Men look for somebody to take care of
Boys seek popularity: Men demand respect
Boys do what they want: Men do what they can and more!
I know this didn’t originate with my pastor and that there are a number of versions of this out there.
Ephesian 5:22-23 give us the proper picture of what a biblical man should be. There we see it has nothing to do with how “tough” or “strong” we are. No, God tells us that a biblical man should be responsible, humble, loving, willing to sacrifice and submit. That’s a far cry from what we see in the culture at large!
I pray we raise a generation of “men”, not “boys!”
