Happenings Update May 15 – May 24 2017

Daily Journal

May 15 – Today was a good day and a bad day.  I flew home and got here about 5 PM.  My back was hurting a little.  Our family came over for dinner and that was amazing.  We celebrated my birthday, my son-in-laws birthday and Mothers Day since I was gone.  Candace came over as well and blessed me with some very cool shirts to use for my workouts.  By the time everyone had left, my back was killing me.  When this happens there’s just nothing I can do.  I praise God that it doesn’t happen more often.  I was able to catch up on all of my emails, but after that, I was toast and had to go to bed.

May 16 – I went to an appointment with my chiropractor today and it helped a little.  I spent the rest of the day in some meetings about Academy of Hope* and working on my talks for Africa. We also had a friend’s son who popped into town so I took him to the Creation Museum and then came home.  I just couldn’t walk it hurts so bad.  We took him out to dinner as well just so I could spend some time with him.  What a great young man.  It’s so encouraging to run into future leaders and to be able to hopefully pour into them.

May 17 – Dentist appointment in the morning.  Got home by 9:30 AM and started working on getting all of the materials off of my old computer onto my new computer.  Plus also worked on the talks for Africa.  Today was pretty much sitting at a desk working on the computer.

May 18 – Today was a tough day.  My jaw hurt all day long to the point that it was hard to concentrate.  That along with my back pain made for an interesting day.  About 11 PM my jaw hurt so bad that I almost had to go to the Emergency Room at the hospital.  Our health insurance is pretty poor so the cost would have been too much so I sucked it up and held on to morning.

May 19 – Something amazing must be going to happen this weekend and in Tanzania in order for this craziness with the health.  I praise God I was able to get an appointment at 10:45 AM.  It was a long morning for sure.  I just got back from the dentist and thankfully, the pain is gone!  Unfortunately, so is the tooth!  The shots took the pain away so hopefully once they wear off with the tooth gone the pain will stay gone!  The dentist told me that I should be good to go for the trip next week.  Tomorrow when I speak I’ll just have chipmunk cheeks!  For the first time in 4 days my head is clear though.  I don’t know how people live with chronic pain.  I am so weak!

May 20 – Praise God, the tooth pain is gone!  I know I should praise Him even with the tooth pain, but am so thankful that He took it away for now.  I didn’t go to the museum with a group because I was protecting my back since I was supposed to speak at Mercy Ridge in the evening.  Here’s the crazy thing, I’m sitting in the parking lot of the church an hour before starting time waiting to set up before people come and I get a text that they cancelled the event!  Sometimes I just don’t know what to say to folks.  Trust me, I wasn’t doing this event for money!  It was a youth event with no budget so I told them I was happy to just do ministry.  I even had a friend of mine who has his own ministry in town from Georgia who was going to speak for nothing.  We just wanted to pour into the next generation.  Needless to say I was disappointed to NOT be able to speak to them, even if it was only 1!  Instead I went to dinner with my buddy from Georgia and we were able to catch up.  Super frustrating though for sure.

May 21 – I spoke at the church that cancelled the previous nights youth event.  Very interesting to say the least.  No one really had a clue what was going on.  The pastor was out of town and whoever was supposed to set everything up just dropped the ball.  They cancelled Sunday evening as well!  Sometimes I’m just blown away at how brothers in Christ treat each other!  Anyway, God is in control and I just have to trust Him.  This did allow me to go to my home church for our evening prayer meeting.  It was very heart wrenching to hear how much is going on in my home congregation.  There are so many hurting people!

May 22 – Today was a busy running around day and getting prepared to leave for Africa on Wednesday.  I decided to get the pain medication the dentist prescribed, just in case!  I was afraid to get on the plane and have the tooth go nuts on me and then not be able to do anything for hours so I broke down and got them.  I don’t want to use it and won’t unless I absolutely have to.  I’m actually afraid of that stuff.  I wrote a couple of new articles for the website, which is something that I fail at miserably.  Writing doesn’t come easy to me, but it’s very important that I do it.  I also mailed out some orders and got caught up on paperwork.

May 23 – Today I mowed the grass so that hopefully my wife won’t have to do it before I return in 9 days.  I also worked on editing a new talk, “Genesis Matters” in addition to working on other talks.  Plus I finished another article.

May 24 – I’m in Boston at the moment on my way to Tanzania.  I’ll update you on the trip ASAP.

May the Lord continue to richly bless you.  Thanks again for all of your support.  Until next time,

Blessings and . . .
