Dear Friends of Dayspring,
Every day on my way to church I pass a campus of an organization that tries to rehabilitate teenagers that have committed state offences. For many years as I passed, I have prayed that the Lord would someday give Dayspring this property. A few weeks ago I heard on the radio that this organization had lost state funding and would have to close. I contacted the CEO and started discussing the possibility of buying it. She told me that it would be a short sale because the property was very underwater and they would be declaring bankruptcy.
We excitedly told the boards of the church and the college. They also were excited and directed us to pursue it. The following Sunday we announced it in church and miraculously the money was pledged by many different people. On Monday, April 30th, we offered 1 million cash. This property has appraised as high as 3.5 million in the past. It would be a true miracle if we get it, but that’s what God does.
Please pray hard. We should have an answer by this Monday as that is the deadline we gave on our offer. Since this would be a short sale with a bank that assumed the debt of a failed bank, the current note holding bank as well as the FDIC must approve the deal. The current owner told me today that she thinks they will.
My staff toured the property today and are amazed at all the room and the beauty of the campus. It is 13.5 acres completely surrounded by forest preserve and has 7 buildings including dorms, gym, new commercial kitchen, apartments and academic buildings. It will take a bit of work to get ready for fall but I’m sure our church people and students are ready for that challenge.
We will need additional funds to fix it up so pray for some more money to come in for that.
I will let you know what happens.
Thanks for your prayers,

Hello Carl, I pray that since we last spoke u have been in good health. Time has flown by so quickly, but as long as u r satisfied and happy with what u have accomplished in the time u had; that is all anyone can ask for. As for me, things have not been well. Sunday after leaving church I had some pain in my right hand, by that evening my hand had blown up like a balloon and was very painful. As of today, nothing much has changed, only the pain has become more intense, and I can’t sleep well because of this; but….God is in control, and His will b done. Please keep me in your prayers :0)

Thank u for sending me this info, this is awesome news Carl, I will b sure to take advantage of this opportunity. Until we speak again, b blessed my friend. God has His hands on U. In His precious and holy name. Yusuf <(><…

“And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? 12Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. 13And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever. 14The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” Exodus 14:11-14

“Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. . . . 9But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead.” 2 Corinthians 1:4, 9

“Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6

“And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? And why do thoughts arise in your hearts?” Luke 24:38

“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures.” Luke 24:45

“Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.” 2 Timothy 2:7

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:3-5

“For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. 5Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: 6That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:4-6

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5

These indeed are trying and troubling times as we see our nation essentially being dismantled on every front by an ideology that has been around from the beginning of time, and one that does not incorporate God into His rightful place. These times could entice us to ask God “why” and to blame Him for the state in which we find ourselves. All of these Scriptures have one interpretation, mainly to the Jewish people, but there is always application to those of us who believe Scripture is our blueprint for living. Therefore, we have a test today, especially in the political arena regarding the direction of our country and whether it will survive with the biblical foundation upon which it was established or become more dependent on big government rather than retaining the work ethic and small government originally designed and built into our Constitution by the Founding Fathers. Our main responsibility is to continue on steadfastly serving the Lord. As He directs and leads through prayer and action we should be as involved as we can to stem the tide of governmental corruption. We can be comforted by the Scriptures above where the God of all comfort gives us His perspective and answers. He wants us to abound in all hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 15:13) and to pursue the opportunities that will bring peace and the edification of one another (Rom. 14:19, paraphrases). He wants us to exercise the faith that should be in our hearts and minds if we are truly in the family of God. We are in a time that our ears and hearts ARE being led away from devotion to Christ (2 Cor. 11:3). We are fickle people that want “our way” rather than God’s way and are truly going after “other gods” that are not in line with the guidelines of Scripture, and many have forgotten “God’s way” altogether. The Word of God has all the answers necessary for an abundant life . . . indeed it IS our life (Deut. 32:46, 47)!

As always with the Christian life, faith must be the basis for everything, for without faith it is impossible to please God. The current climate of “Christianity” in this country is fast becoming very fragmented with deception and an aberrant distortion of the Scriptures. Many are having their ears tickled as the average person wants what makes him feel good, not what is best. Spurgeon states: “Faith is the foot of the soul by which it can march along the road of the commandments. Love can make the feet move more swiftly; but faith is the foot which carries the soul. Faith is the oil enabling the wheels of holy devotion and of earnest piety to move well; and without faith the wheels are taken from the chariot, and we drag heavily. With faith I can do all things; without faith I shall neither have the inclination nor the power to do anything in the service of God. If you would find the men who serve God the best, you must look for the men of the most faith. If you love darkness, and are satisfied to dwell in gloom and misery, then be content with little faith; but if you love the sunshine, and would sing songs of rejoicing, covet earnestly this best gift, “’great faith.’” Spurgeon. C.H. “Morning, March 7th,” Morning and Evening. Peabody, MA: Hendrickson Publishers, 2006.

We have had a fast-paced two months which has included over 7,000 miles of travel, some wonderful ministry opportunities, the completion of the office project (much to our delight), and the completion of more writing projects for the girls. The Biblically Handling Technology and Social Media: Applying Biblical Principles to Facebook, Texting, iPods, etc.… booklets (revision) as well as the new creation cards witnessing tracts that cover the animals on the original Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution #1 DVD should both be available on our website within the week. The DVD set of seven DVD’s from the Mother/Daughter Conference in June of 2011 will be completed this next week. There will be six speakers on seven discs and available through the ministry. The only negative to the office construction is the inevitable destruction of the yard which will be a challenge to deal with as we see the temperatures rising and no rain hopes. We are hopeful that the tough tenacious Texas Bermuda grass will re-appear in some areas to keep us from a dry dusty or muddy next year. The tornadoes that were rampant over Dallas three weeks ago were devastating, but by God’s grace, one of the largest ones in the area that hit Forney, TX, lifted up over Rockwall, missing our home and touched down again in Royse City, all of this in such a small radius of our home. We did have major hail damage and all of the roofs had to be replaced, but by God’s grace the insurance covered the majority of the cost. Jobe has had some extensive skin surgery on head, face and neck, and is recovering nicely just in time for his 33rd birthday over the proverbial “39 again” (i.e. 72)! Our schedule is somewhat incomplete, but we so appreciate your prayers for us in spite of it and we greatly appreciate your continued support of this ministry as we seek to use your investments in us for our Lord’s eternal glory. We would especially appreciate specific prayer over this summer of travelling very long distances for not only safety in travel, but also help finding inexpensive gas and clean (bug free) hotel rooms and that the Lord will help us to find open hearts in every ministry opportunity as we travel.
